Commitment to the environment

JPS Pharmaceutical makes the best use of the blessings of nature to manufacture kampo medicines. We believe that reducing the environmental impact of manufacturing processes as much as possible will also lead to valuing the blessings of nature.
Hear from one of our factory managers about JPS Pharmaceutical’s commitment to the environment.
Do you remember what we said about JPS not forcefully squeezing out extracts?
I remember, I thought it was wasteful (laughs).
This time, I will tell you about the remaining crude drugs extracted and the treatment of wastewater after cleaning.
Crude drugs are not wasted after extraction
This is the crude drug residue after extracting the extract. If it is thrown away as is, it will become industrial waste and an environmental burden. However, JPS Pharmaceutical's crude drug residue is fermented and used as organic fertilizer by nearby farmers.

The desire to clean wastewater
Cleaning the machines that manufacture extracts and formulations produces wastewater that contains a lot of organic matter. At JPS Pharmaceutical, this wastewater is not treated with chemicals, but is purified over time with the help of microorganisms.

Water that passes through the purification facility becomes clearer and clearer. After reaching the rightmost state, it is finally discarded as sewage.

In addition to quality control of discharged water, we also properly manage crude drug residue and water to be discarded. JPS Pharmaceutical also considers taking care of the environment important.
